Counselling & Psychotherapy

Jen Southon

Counselling is helpful if you want to talk about an issue to someone who is completely removed from that situation. In counselling you will find a safe and non-judgemental space in which to discuss anything you want to, confidentially.

I am a qualified counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I have been counselling adult individuals for many years, covering areas such as anxiety, abuse, bereavement, depression, self esteem, relationships, family, health and spiritual issues.

I use a person centred approach as well as solution-focussed brief therapy. Both are respectful of the client’s view of what is going on and believe that the client has the strengths and resources to solve their problems. Counselling happens at your own pace and I would keep your goals in mind to ensure that it is continuing to be as helpful as possible for you.

Counselling would mostly consist of talking and creative, therapeutic exercises, if you are willing to do them.

Very often the demands placed on us mean that we lose sight of our own needs. By taking time to talk about your life, counselling can help you to get back into contact with these lost areas.

"I have been seeing Jen for therapy for around 6 months and this has been invaluable for helping me navigate a difficult divorce from my husband and deal with the trauma of events that took place during the relationship.  Her calm manner and insight has helped me enormously".

Becky Williams

Hi, I'm Becky I provide professional, caring and confidential counselling for Children, Adolescents Adults and Couples. I am also training with my big pup Nala in animal assisted therapy which I am hoping to be able to provide soon. I work with a range of issues including anxiety, stress, bereavement, depression, and relationship problems, exploring ways of coping and improving life.

I am a fully qualified experienced Integrative Counsellor and Registered Member of The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and Accredited Member of National Counselling Society (NCS)

I adhere to the standards of the BACP ‘Ethical Framework for Counsellors’ and also follow the BACP Guidelines for Online Counselling and Psychotherapy. I work in private practice offering face to face, telephone, and online counselling. I have worked with clients across all age ranges, from age 5, up to and beyond retirement. I have the fullest commitment to offering a service which is welcoming to all backgrounds in a supportive and non-discriminatory manner.

I aim to provide, to the best of my ability, online counselling opportunities that endeavour to create a supportive, non-judgmental environment in which you will be given time and space to understand and gain insight into your situation. This process can foster growth and lead to positive change in your life. I will not be in a position to offer advice.

The way I work

I use an ‘Integrative ’approach in my work with clients. This means that rather than specialising in one traditional approach, I seek to combine aspects of different approaches to provide the most effective way of working. I will always explain clearly to you how we will work together and what you can expect.

My first session

My counselling services are conducted in a supportive, non-judgemental atmosphere and discussions in therapy are always confidential. Some of the most common reasons people seek counselling are depression, stress anxiety and relationship problems. However, there is no limit the to the kinds of issues that can be discussed in therapy.

You may set up your first appointment by texting me 07773020818 or emailing me directly at Becky@dandeliontherapyservices.co.uk You will then receive confirmation and payment will be requested to secure your appointment. Normally I am able to arrange a first appointment within one week of your initial contact.

The first appointment whether you are coming to me for personal individual therapy or couples counselling, will last about 40-50 minutes. I will discuss your goals and what you want to achieve from therapy and you will have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have about counselling and psychotherapy.

I will run through a contract that will cover confidentiality, payment, cancelation policy and agree a time and day to book your next session.

If you decide it is not the right time for you to engage in therapy you are under no obligation to continue.

I am a HCPC Registered Psychologist and a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. I have experience working with adults with a range of emotional difficulties and I also support people with issues around attachment and past trauma. I am trained in a range of psychological models so we can work together to best understand what you have been experiencing and decide what therapy would be most useful for your particular needs. I also have experience in working with more complex difficulties such as people who have a diagnosis of, or experience symptoms that may be consistent with, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Complex Trauma, and Personality Disorders. Choosing the right person to support you through therapy is important, and therefore I am happy to chat to discuss in more detail what you are looking to gain from therapy and what I might be able to provide to help you achieve your goals.
